Women’s Initiative Fund … Women Helping Women

The Women’s Initiative Fund is a permanent endowment, established in 1993 at the Connecticut Community Foundation to support innovative programs that improve the quality of life of women and children in our region.

Co-founders Kay Campbell and Peggy Lawlor recruited dozens of area women to establish the fund. Since then hundreds of people have contributed to the fund with their money and their time – forming a giving circle that continues to grow.

Our Grantmaking
The Women’s Initiative Fund has awarded more than $97,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations since its inception.

Each year, members of the Grants Committee for the Women’s Initiative Fund and the Lois Livingston McMillen Memorial Fund seek proposals from organizations that target underserved women and their children in our region. Applications are accepted during CCF's second grant round.

Get Involved
Committees of the Women’s Initiative Fund organize to make grants and visit nonprofit organizations, host an annual event to hear our grantees’ stories - their successes and challenges, host small informal gatherings throughout the year for information and fun, and reach out to other like-minded women.
