What is a Community Foundation?

There are more than 700 community foundations in the United States that manage more than $31 billion in charitable funds.

In fact, community foundations make up one of the fastest growing sectors of philanthropy in the United States today.

Everyday, community foundations…

  • Support local nonprofits

Since 2005, CCF has made grants totaling more than $100,000 to support a multi-institutional collaborative of health care organizations in Waterbury that work together to address the medical needs of underserved and underinsured residents. Since its launch, the Waterbury Health Access Program has served approximately 7,500 patients, and has leveraged hundreds of thousands of dollars in donated medical care and medications for area residents through Project Access.

  • Help Students

The Persbacker Family Scholarship recognizes Bridgewater students who volunteer and provide community service to their town with scholarships up to $12,000 over four years.

  • Assist Donors

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we manage 380 charitable funds that support the arts, health care, education, human services, women and children and the environment.
