Bridgewater

The Connecticut Community Foundation is very proud of our partnerships with the Bridgewater community and our role in helping nonprofits and students flourish with a variety of grants and scholarships.

People

• Jeanne Paparazzo is co-chair of CCF’s Women’s Initiative Fund and a former CCF Trustee.  Jeanne and her husband, Henry established the Jeanne and Henry Paparazzo Scholarship Fund which awards scholarships to students who reside in any of the 21 towns served by CCF. 
   
• Ilene Leff serves on CCF’s Litlinks Committee.

Community Leadership

• As a part of the LitLinks early childhood education initiative, Regional School District 12 received a $2,320 grant in 2011.  LitLinks aims to improve preschoolers' readiness for kindergarten by better aligning preschool and kindergarten education through joint teacher training, seminars, parent outreach, and other efforts.

Grants

• In May 2011, Community Caring in Bridgewater received a $4,500 grant for Senior Safety Review and Assistance to reach an additional 30 senior households for energy and safety audits and connect them to information and services.
   
• New Opportunities, Inc. currently has a $9,000 Money Management grant for Elder Enhancement which provides one-on-one financial literacy assistance to seniors to seven new communities including Bridgewater.
   
• The Northwest Conservation District for Energy Conservation, Efficiency, and Renewable Energy received a grant for a new, expanded program targeted to residents, town energy committees, and schools to increase clean, efficient and renewable energy. Bridgewater was one of 13 towns receiving a combined total of $9,500 in grants through this program.

Sponsorships

• CCF sponsored a 6-week children’s summer reading program at the Burnham Library.

Scholarships

• Since 2003, CCF has assisted students like Stacy Sullivan thanks to the Persbacker Family Scholarship Fund.  As the largest scholarship fund available to students in Bridgewater, the Persbacker Fund annually provides scholarships for students who have demonstrated outstanding community service. 
  
  2011 recipients of the Persbacker Scholarship included Sarah M. Case, Jeffrey R. Kaprielian, Cody Luongo, and Stacy Sullivan. Other scholarship recipients from Bridgewater included: Luke Gellatly and Ellen McQueen for a town total award of $16,500.
