Southbury Woman Leaves $715K to CCF
to Benefit the Arts
WATERBURY, CT – November 23, 2010 – The Connecticut Community Foundation (CCF) recently received a gift of $715,000 from the estate of Sarah Robin of Southbury. In her will, Robin designated these funds to be added to the Benjamin and Vera Robin Fund at CCF, a field-of-interest fund for the arts established in 1991 by her parents.
“In leaving such a substantial gift, Sarah Robin's generosity will enhance her family’s legacy of supporting the arts in our region,” said Ingrid Manning, CEO at CCF. “I knew the Robin family for many years. Sarah was generous and always supportive of her parents. Donors like the Robins enable us to help arts organizations enrich our lives and positively impact our community.”
For almost 20 years, the Benjamin and Vera Robin fund has supported organizations such as Shakesperience Productions, Waterbury Symphony Orchestra, Oxford Cultural Arts Commission, Pilobolus, Inc., Mattatuck Museum, Bellamy-Ferriday House and Garden, Brass City Ballet Company, Connecticut Dance Theatre, Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism, and the Center for Creative Youth.
Mr. and Mrs. Robin were lifelong residents of the Waterbury area who shared a love for the arts and were active in many civic organizations, including founding the Southbury Ambulance Association in Heritage Village and serving on the Southbury Literary Board.
