Persbacker Scholarship Available for Graduating Seniors in Bridgewater

WATERBURY — February 12, 2010 — If you are a graduating senior from Bridgewater and plan on entering college in 2010, the Connecticut Community Foundation encourages you to apply for the Persbacker Family Scholarship.

Students may download an application form. The deadline to apply is March 15.

For the Persbacker Family Scholarship, students must have lived in Bridgewater for six years and demonstrated an outstanding record of community service. Established by Victor Persbacker to encourage volunteerism in young people, this $2,500 annual scholarship is renewable up to three times.

The region’s largest scholarship provider, the Connecticut Community Foundation has awarded hundreds of scholarships to area students since 1989. In 2009, nearly 275 students in Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills received more than $480,000 in scholarships from funds established by area donors.
