New Fund Continues Mission of Junior League of Greater Waterbury
WATERBURY, CT – January 8, 2010 -- When members of the Junior League of Greater Waterbury (JLGW) decided to dissolve the chapter earlier this year, they wanted to allocate their remaining assets to continue their mission that is committed to education, charity and improving communities through the leadership of volunteers.
Ledlie Mosch, president, and Tara Coakley, vice president, turned to the Connecticut Community Foundation and recently established the Junior League of Greater Waterbury Fund with a contribution of $12,500. The donor advised fund will support nonprofits in the Greater Waterbury area that contribute to the quality of life in the region.
"We are excited about the future of the Junior League of Greater Waterbury Fund. The unforgettable work that the loyal members of the league accomplished over the past 86 years is legendary in our community,” said Mosch. “It is our hope that support of the JLGW mission through the endowed fund will continue the valuable work of our great organization in perpetuity by providing access to opportunity and advancement for those in need."
Starting in 2010, an advisory committee consisting of Mosch and Coakley will recommend grants to benefit educational, cultural, civic, environmental, health or human service organizations in the Greater Waterbury area.
“We are honored that the Junior League of Greater Waterbury chose the Foundation to carry on its mission and to manage its assets now and forever,” said Donor Relationship Officer Marie McFadden pictured from left with Coakley of Plantsville, and Mosch, a resident of Washington.
