P3 Grants to Build Community Partnerships of Preschools and Public Schools

Connecticut Community Foundation’s LitLinks program awards P3 grants to give preschool and public school teachers the opportunity to develop joint solutions to better prepare children for kindergarten.

Five communities in our service area including Bridgewater, Roxbury, Washington, Naugatuck and Watertown, are building teams of preschool and elementary school teachers as well as parents to strengthen children’s skills in reading and language based on the state’s Kindergarten Inventory or other standardized assessment tools.

These efforts are expected to:

  • increase the number of children judged as proficient based on the state Kindergarten Inventory
  • increase the number of preschools using a formal curriculum aligned with both local standards and the state grade level expectations
