Community Events Receive $27,000 Boost from Connecticut Community Foundation’s Sponsorship Grants

In its first grant cycle of 2017, Connecticut Community Foundation has awarded a total of $27,000 in sponsorship grants to 32 organizations hosting community events in Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills.  The wide-ranging list of events receiving grants includes summer concerts, fundraising dinners and galas, theater performances, history talks, and a health and safety fair.

Said Paula Van Ness, president and CEO of Connecticut Community Foundation, “What fun! Through these events, our sponsorship grantees will entertain, delight and educate residents of Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills. Their creative energies are at the heart of thriving communities in our region.”

The 32 new event sponsorship grantees are below (with grant amounts and 2017 event dates):

  • Abilities Without Boundaries: $500, Obstacle Course Race, April or May
  • Brass City Harvest: $1,000, 10th Anniversary Gala, Sept. 16
  • Clay & Wattles Theater Company: $750, 2017 Season, June 10-Aug. 13
  • Connecticut Junior Republic: $1,000, 16th Annual Scholarship Dinner, June 1
  • Connecticut Summer Opera Foundation: $500, 5th anniversary opera, Oct. 7
  • Friends of Beacon Falls Library: $1,000, Italian Comedy Wedding Dinner Show, April 1
  • Greater Waterbury YMCA: $500, Kids Marathon Program, May 24
  • Greenwoods Counseling Referrals: $1,000, A Spring Garden Party, June 16
  • Hispanic Coalition of Greater Waterbury: $1,000, 16th Annual Coqui Awards Dinner, Sept. 29
  • Institute for American Indian Studies: $500, Native American Stone Ceremonial Sites in the Northeast, Oct. 28
  • Jane Doe No More: $1,000, 10th Anniversary Gala, April 28
  • Kent Singers: $1,000, Summer Great Works: Mozart Requiem, June 11
  • Landmark Community Theatre: $1,000, Theatrical season through Dec. 10
  • Litchfield Land Trust: $1,000, Fall Sunset Party, Sept. 29
