Western Connecticut Leadership
Western Connecticut Leadership (WCL) is a program of Connecticut Community Foundation that provides proven leaders and accomplished professionals with opportunities to make significant impacts in communities throughout Western Connecticut.
Over eight weekly sessions each fall, Western Connecticut Leadership gives participants an in-depth understanding of current, local issues through engaging and interactive visits to diverse venues in Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills and discussions with community leaders. These behind-the-scenes site visits and off-the-record conversations with key leaders from Connecticut’s nonprofit and public sectors are designed to not only highlight community needs but spark ideas for solutions and opportunities to get involved. The program "matches need with know-how" and culminates by engaging participants in meaningful board and volunteer opportunities.
Additionally, members are invited to continue learning and engaging with each other during ongoing alumni activities, which include numerous social-cultural and educational discussions.
Since 2014, over 85 people have completed the Western Connecticut Leadership program and are sharing their time and talents with nonprofit organizations in the region.
In September 2017, the program will welcome its fourth class. We anticipate that applications will be available in mid-February.
