Strengthening Nonprofits

Connecticut Community Foundation is a partner in building stronger and more effective nonprofit organizations in our region, helping organizations develop their own methods in delivering high-quality services to area residents.

Organizational Development

Nonprofit Advisory Institute (NAI)

A joint program between Connecticut Community Foundation and the United Way of Greater Waterbury, the Institute connects dedicated and highly skilled volunteer advisors to nonprofits in our 21-town region in order to help strengthen them organizationally.

Our nonprofit advisors have extensive experience in for-profit and nonprofit management and are committed to strengthening the community by utilizing their expertise and specific skill sets to support local nonprofits.  Skilled in facilitation, coaching and best practices for nonprofit organizations, they can help you plan and implement changes to make your organization more efficient and effective.

In the past, our NAI advisors have worked with local nonprofits on projects including board development, strategic planning, volunteer recruitment, streamlining and updating financial systems and forming partnerships. Request a nonprofit advisor

CORNERSTONE COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP

The Cornerstone initiative provides enhanced capacity building support to impactful nonprofits in our region who have shown the potential for growth.  By providing our Cornerstone Partners with resources and support specifically tailored to their current opportunities and challenges over a multi-year period, the Foundation aims to create organizational sustainability and lasting impact in the community.

Permanent Endowment and Non-Permanent Advised Funds

We offer nonprofits the ability to create funds that we hold and manage as part of our endowment portfolio. We offer both permanent endowed funds and non-permanent advised funds. The former help organizations to establish and build permanent revenue streams, while the latter enable them to invest reserve funds or raise funds for special projects. Learn more
