Investment Strategy
The Foundation’s investment policies are overseen by an Investment Committee comprised of active and retired investment managers as well as others knowledgeable in the investment field. The committee, with assistance from an independent consulting firm, sets the allocation strategies, selects investment managers and monitors the performance of the managers on a quarterly basis against benchmarks.
Donors to the Connecticut Community Foundation may select from the following investment options for their funds:
- Balanced Endowment Option – available to permanent and non permanent funds. This pool offers a broadly diversified portfolio of publicly traded mutual funds providing full disclosure and liquidity. The focus is on index funds which mirror the market at low cost.
- Money Market Option – available to nonpermanent funds. This pool offers a money market fund for those donors who wish to ensure preservation of capital prior to distribution of grants from their fund.
- Individually Managed Option – available for funds of $1 million or more. Donors may recommend a particular investment advisor or develop their own portfolio from selected Vanguard Funds. For more information on this option, please contact CEO, Ingrid Manning or Mary DePinho, director of Finance.
