CCF, Partner Funders Leverage $3.2 Million for Early Childhood Mental Health Initiative
Connecticut Community Foundation’s partnership with Connecticut’s state leadership and private philanthropy leveraged $3.2 million in matching support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for the Child FIRST Replication Project at Wellpath, Inc., a nonprofit behavioral health agency in Waterbury.
Developed at Bridgeport Hospital, Child FIRST is an early childhood mental health initiative and innovative model which has been proven to decrease emotional, behavioral, developmental and learning problems, abuse and neglect among families and children prenatal to age six.
Home-based intervention is the core service component of Child FIRST. This intervention is offered to any family who has substantial concerns about a young child’s emotions and behavior, development and learning, or psychosocial risks in the child’s environment.
