CCF Committees
Most of our committees meet 3-5 times a year. Some meet in the morning, some in the late afternoon; meetings usually last for 60 or 90 minutes.
Grants Committee
Reviews all grant applications and recommends grant recipients to the Board.
- 4 meetings/year from 3:30-5:30 p.m
- Establishes grant guidelines and assesses community needs
- Requires knowledge of role of nonprofits in community
- Requires willingness to read and analyze numerous grant applications
- 4 meetings/year at 8 a.m.
- Requires knowledge of, or professional experience in, investment management or finance
- Establishes investment guidelines for the Foundation's portfolio
- Selects investment managers and reviews portfolio performance
LitLinks Grants Committee
Reviews and recommends action on the Foundation’s preschool education initiative, LitLinks.
NAI Advisor Program
Provides management and organizational advisors to nonprofit directors and other staff. Training for the NAI Advisor Program is provided by Connecticut Community Foundation staff.
NAI Advisors with expertise in the following areas assist with:
- strategic planning
- financial systems
- marketing/public relations
- resource development
- board development for predetermined time
- human resources
Nonprofit Assistance Committee
The Nonprofit Assistance committee is a joint committee of the United Way of Greater Waterbury and the Connecticut Community Foundation.
- 3-4 meetings/year at 8 a.m.
- Prepares and reviews guidelines and procedures for management and technical assistance to nonprofits
- Reviews and approves grant applications for assistance
- Requires knowledge of and interest in nonprofit governance and management issues
Outreach/Development Committee
Prepares and implements plans for increasing the Foundation's visibility in the community. Responsible for reviewing and approving sponsorships for community events.
Professional Advisor Committees
Professional advisors including attorneys, accountants, and financial advisors assist the Connecticut Community Foundation in promoting charitable giving.
- Two committees – Greater Waterbury Area and Greater New Milford Area
- Plan educational seminars and workshops on charitable giving topics for professional advisors
- Assist Foundation in developing strategies to inform advisors about charitable giving.

- host an annual event to highlight the successes and challenges of grantees
- host small informal gatherings throughout the year for information and fun
